The South East Governance Innovation Conference 2017 organized by African Heritage Institution under the platform of Enugu Forum with the support of DFID-PERL in Awka, Anambra State provided the five states of the region an opportunity to showcase their most successful governance reforms.
The two-day summit which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday 7 - 8 March 2017 featured presentations from each of the five South East states on their ‘Foremost Reform’ experience and drew participants from the South-East governments, Civil Society organisations, private sector organizations, industrialists, investors, business managers, and company executives.
The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke in his opening remark said the summit will enable peer learning among South East states on game changing and time tested state level innovations that are proving critical to the improvement of governance, and accelerate regional integration.
In his keynote address, Prof. Barth Nnaji, Chairman, Geometric Power Limited said the economic growth of the region will engender a multiplier effect nationwide and proposed the South-East Region Economic Development Corporation (SEREDEC) as a driving force for synergistic outcomes of overarching ventures for the South-East Region.
The event was summarized with the drafting of proposed actions plans from the different states.
