AfriHeritage Holds Strategic Staff/Management Workshop

The Management and staff of the African Heritage Institution (AfriHeritage) were on Wednesday and Thursday June 5 and 6 respectively, engrossed in a strategic workshop aimed at ensuring organizational growth and sustainability. The training workshop which began on Wednesday June 5, with a session strictly for Management Staff who were later joined by the rest of the staff the following day, was facilitated by Anthony Boateng, an international consultant in leadership, governance, strategy and financial management. Mr. Boateng is an expert who in the last twenty years has carved a niche for himself in the areas of inter-governmental relations, NGOS and the private sector.

At the Workshop, the Executive Director of AfriHeritage, Professor Ufo Okeke-Uzodike admonished the staff to make the best use of the retreat/training Workshop to re-strategies on how to re-position the Institution in the coming years, he advised them to open their creative minds and to explore their creative instincts towards the onerous responsibility of setting the road-map to institutional sustainability of AfriHeritage in the face of continuous competing interest and gradual pull-back by development partners.

The thrust of the retreat/training workshop centered on the three pillars of think thank which include research/analysis, advisory and advocacy. It also tried to ex-ray and provide answers to the pertinent issues of rigour, robust and relevance necessary for the sustainability of an institution like the African Heritage Institution. At the training workshop also, the importance of strategy to the overall realization of organizational goals was highlighted as well as the various challenges militating against sustainability.
