The African Heritage Institution is organizing a two weeks TRAIN-THE-TRAINER executive course on Econometrics Methods for Policy Analysis.
Without adequate understanding of social and economic phenomena, academics, public policymakers, NGO officers and private sector managers cannot make good quality decisions. The need for governments to meet the pressures for greater public accountability and good governance underscores the relevance and usefulness of evidence-based public policies. Non-governmental organizations involved in public policy advocacy require sound analytical bases for canvassing positions regarding social and economic policies. In the same vein, the economic circumstances of growing market competition reflect the imperative of well-informed decision-making by private sector managers.
Therefore, it is important that policymakers, corporate managers, NGO officers as well as researchers have the relevant skills and tools for multivariate analysis of social and economic phenomena. This course is an element of an ongoing capacity enhancement program aimed at improving knowledge, competencies and skills in econometrics methods for policy analysis among the academia, government officials, NGOs officers, company managers, policy analysts, and researchers. The training course is designed to upgrade and enhance the participant’s analytical skills in econometric theory, analysis and forecasting.
The course will lay greater emphasis on application of techniques for policy analysis as it aims to provide participants with the ability to use econometric software in an effective manner. Participants will be introduced to basic and some advanced research methods and use of econometric software such as the Eviews, Stata and SPSS for data analysis and forecasting.
