Our Core Programme Areas



Applied Economics focuses on our traditional thematic sub-programmes which include; Trade Regional Integration and Competitiveness (TRIC);Macroeconomic Analysis Modelling and Forecasting (MAMF); Public Sector Economics and Management (PSEM); Poverty Income Distribution and the Labour Market (PIDLAM); and Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRUD). These are tailored towards promoting cutting edge economic research aimed at providing evidence based for policy makers. Since inception, AfriHeritage has been using responsive and proactive research- critical economic and allied research to extend the frontiers of knowledge as well as provide evidence for informed policymaking in Africa.


The Politics and Governance programme of AfriHeritage is focusing on contemporary political and governing processes and impact upon states, political entities, international organizations, communities, societies and individuals, at international, regional, national and local levels. Since Economic policies cannot materialise without political backing, this programme would form a platform for applying political or governance-based dynamics in analysis with Nigeria and Africa. The research programme area is therefore paying attention in the analysis that helps improve understanding of political, economic and socio-cultural context that is essential in improving development outcomes Nigeria in particular and Africa as a continent.


Foreign Relations programme of the Institution is dealing with the analyses of relationship among countries, the roles of Sovereign States, Intergovernmental Organisations (IGOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Multinational Corporations (MNCs). This programme is geared towards encouraging policy makers and regulators to take clues from evidence-based relations and use data and empirical evidence to evaluate rules, instead of relying heavily on intuition, anecdotes, dogmas, and impressions.
