Over the last decade, AfriHeritage’s activities have largely been financed by grants from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, under the TTI (Think Tank Initiative) as well as Research grants/Project funding from the World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID) and others.
The Think Tank Initiative is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of independent policy research institutions in the developing world. It was launched in 2008 and currently provides 43 think tanks in 20 countries with a core, non-earmarked funding. AfriHeritage was a two-time beneficiary of the TTI Institutional Grant for the period: 2009-2019.
Due to the decline in the global economy which currently is worsened by the negative impact of COVID-19, the funding of the Institution has negatively been impacted. AfriHeritage Institution’s management is currently working assiduously to identify, explore and harness other funding windows to improve the finances of the Institution.
African Heritage Institution, a not-for-profit, non-partisan and independent organization devoted to economic research, capacity building, and networking. Our history dates back to 2001 when we began operations as the African Institute for Applied Economics (AIAE). Until 2012, our activities were focused mostly on social and economic issues.
